Eurovision | Highest Placing Country that FAILED to Score Maximum Points (1962-2023)

Welcome back to another video! This one was in massive need of an update... and through editing I remembered why I waited so long. These are the highest placing songs of each year which failed to score any maximum points- in the early years, the voting system changed around a lot but eventually the maximum settled on the iconic 12 points still used today. From 1956-1961, then again from 1967-1970 and in 1974, 10 jurors from each country cast 1 vote each to their favourite song. Nobody in any of these years received a very unlikely 10 votes from a single country, so these years are missed out. In 1962, each country's jury awarded 3, 2 and 1 points to their top 3, and in 1963, this was extended to 5, 4, 3, 2 and 1 for their top 5. From 1964-1966, juries had the option of awarding their points in the configurations of 5-3-1, 6-3, or just 9. Only one country ever awarded 6 and 3 points and no one at all awarded the full 9, so the maximum is treated as 5 for this period. From 1971-1973, two jurors in each country (1 young, 1 old) scored the songs on a scale of 1-5, so for this section I have shown the highest without a maximum in: the younger jury vote (no 5s) the older jury vote (no 5s) the full result (no 5s) the full result (no 10s) From 1975-2015, every country cast out one set of 12, 10, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2 and 1 points each. Who determined these votes may have changed a lot, but the points themselves never changed throughout this whole period! From 2004, semi final non-qualifiers also cast votes in the final. From 2016 to the present day, each country's jury and televote now cast a separate set of points each, doubling the amount of points available. For this section I've shown the highest without the maximum in: the jury vote (no 12s) the public vote (no 12s) the full result (no 12s) the full result (no 24s) Thanks for watching the video, I hope you enjoyed!
