Volop lof voor organisatie Paardenmarkt Hedel, ondanks lagere aanvoer

(13615-119) HEDEL – The annual Horse Market in Hedel got off to a remarkably quiet start this year, but that didn't detract from the positive atmosphere and success of the event. The organizers received plenty of praise, particularly from the Netherlands Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority (NVWA), which rated the animal welfare at the market as excellent. Animal welfare organizations and veterinarians, who traditionally conduct their inspection rounds, also expressed their appreciation. "Hedel has its affairs in good order," was the unanimous response. The adjusted format, with the arrival of horses starting two hours later this year, did cause some delay in finding stalls for traders. Ultimately, 743 horses were brought in – a decrease compared to previous years. However, this decrease is not an isolated phenomenon: in Zuid-Laren, where a horse market took place a week earlier, the arrival was also significantly lower than in 2024. Despite the reduced arrivals, trading proceeded satisfactorily. Public interest was also high, with estimates ranging from 20,000 to 30,000 visitors. This confirms that the Horse Market in Hedel remains a popular event that impressively combines tradition, trade, and animal welfare. News from the River Area.
