National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo responded briefly to Mahfud MD's criticism regarding the handling of the case of former Special Crimes Director Febrie Adriansyah. As reported by Tribunnews, Mahfud previously assessed that the transfer of case handling from the National Police to the Attorney General's Office did not comply with the mechanisms stipulated in the Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP). When met at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, on Tuesday (July 14, 2026), the National Police Chief declined to address the substance of the criticism. He only stated that the issue had been discussed and explained in a previous meeting. After giving a brief response, Listyo Sigit immediately left the location. "It was discussed yesterday. It was discussed in the meeting," the National Police Chief said curtly. The National Police Chief also did not respond to questions about the proposal to transfer the case to the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK). He simply smiled without providing further explanation. Media crews again attempted to seek clarification regarding the proposed transfer of the case to the KPK. However, the National Police Chief chose not to provide additional comment. Several bodyguards accompanying the National Police Chief then prevented the media crew from approaching. As previously reported, Mahfud MD assessed that the handling of Febrie's case did not constitute a transfer of responsibility as stipulated in the Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP), but rather a transfer of the investigation, which he argued was not recognized in criminal procedure law.
