Nectar for the Earth - Amrut Jal: A Study on Land Degradation Neutrality (SDG 15.3)

Research Objective: To document the impact of traditional soil restoration (Amrut Jal) as a localized solution to urban land degradation. This documentary explores Target 15.3 of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals: "By 2030, combat desertification, restore degraded land and soil, including land affected by desertification, drought and floods, and strive to achieve a land degradation-neutral world." Through qualitative interviews and visual evidence, the film examines how Amrut Jal serves as a catalyst for soil health in Ahmedabad, moving from "sealed" urban environments to thriving ecosystems. Key Research Areas: • Soil Sealing: The impact of concrete on urban soil health. • Microbial Restoration: The role of Amrut Jal in bringing life back to "dead" land. • Economic Sustainability: The circular economy of Gaushalas and gardening.
