Star Wars Fans Suck

To me, Star Wars has always been a very special thing; eliciting cherished childhood memories, and some of the best movie-going experiences I’ve ever had in my life.  It’s hard to describe the energy you feel when you’re in a line with hundreds of other people waiting for a Star Wars movie.  I think this goes without saying, but I don’t want anybody directing any type of frustration towards some of the content creators that I discuss in this video. They are definitely part of the problem, but they are never going to change and so it’s pointless trying to address them directly.  In around 10 years time, they will be on board with the things they claim to hate now; then, and only then, the circle will be complete. And to be honest with you, when I make my videos, (for research) I watch a lot of content related to what I am talking about, and I almost sympathize with channels like critical drinker, and Nerdrotic, because in a lot of ways, I think they are held captive by an audience they created. Their manufactured hate is so comical it’s predictable and because of that even if they really enjoyed a recent Disney project, I don’t believe they would have the ability to express that without backlash from their fan base. I guess I’m of the minority that believes you can watch something and love it, but dislike aspects of it. I thought the Thrawn book trilogy (by Timothy Zahn) was brilliant, but I hated the fact that Luke was fighting a clone, I just thought it was so stupid. You can think both, and feel both simultaneously. They’re not mutually exclusive. You can love the last Jedi, but hate the direction they took Luke. You can dislike the Phantom Menace, and not believe that Star Wars is ruined. I think the fact that this hate is predictable, is sad; when you hear about stories of Star Wars actors contemplating suicide, or being forced off social media, you have to wonder where is this hate gets generated from.  Every-time Star Wars creates content with a female driven lead, or centers around an actor who isn’t white, or male, I know that there’s going to be backlash, I just hate the fact that I know this. Even with popular establish characters like Asoka, her show is going to cause “outrage”. If you create content centered around reviewing, or you create Star Wars content, you really should ask yourself if the content you’re creating is fair criticism, or hate-baiting bullshit.
