Old C Stock "VERA" announcements
Much like the Bakerloo's 1972 refurbished tube stock, the C69/77 Stocks on the Circle, District and Hammersmith & City lines were retrofitted from 1997 with a Digital Voice Announcer (DVA), whose narrator is known only as VERA (whose voice is unknown). Although intended to be the permanent announcer for these lines, the demeaning voice and odd script of station calls led to it being unpopular with passengers, being replaced by Emma Clarke beginning 2001. Few recordings exist of any VERA announcements, including the Bakerloo (as uploaded earlier) and Victoria lines, and although there are much more with this collection than my earlier Bakerloo line video, announcements on the H&C east of Aldgate East and the District line routes to Wimbledon and Olympia are missing. Therefore, I've done my best to reconstruct Wimbledon and Tower Hill to maximise a 53% coverage of the C Stock's stations. Once again these were uploaded to the RailUKForums thread "Tube train automated announcements 2005" by the user 'announcements', who told that they were not recorded by them but was kept on a USB stick until they emailed them to a fellow railway enthusiast, not being able to recover them until said enthusiast emailed them back to the user! Again they're not superb quality, but this is a very rare gem, so I hope this is valuable to some of you out there. Audio credits to user ‘announcements’ on RailUK Forums.
