One Minute Bunkai: Wansu Sho #4
One Minute Bunkai: This sequence from the Wansu kata is often misunderstood or ignored. In the Kata the initial open hand is used with dynamic tension implying that you are manipulating or applying a control on the opponent, the following release movement with same hand dictates that you are surrendering to his force thus you are then able to use it against him. This sequence is for close quarters fighting and it works very well as described. Here we show it against a wrist grab and also against a punch to the face. But as it is the “best practice” to always intercept and control your opponent’s elbow when you are to the outside, the Kata suggests that this sequence is primarily against a wrist grab.
