Born in Glasgow, Scotland, and growing up in Toronto, Canada, Lawrence Gowan earned a degree in Classical Piano from The Royal Conservatory Of Music at the age of 19. He had his first big solo success in Canada in 1985 with his STRANGE ANIMAL LP released under the name GOWAN, and featuring his biggest hit, A CRIMINAL MIND, winning a JUNO Award.
