Mario Reyes adelanta el estreno de “Obreros: Los Antiguos”, la emblemática obra de Nano Acevedo

As a valuable rescue of Chilean musical heritage comes “Obreros: Los Antiguos” (Workers: The Ancients), Nano Acevedo's historic work that, fifty years after its creation, returns renewed in recording format with new musical arrangements and a meticulous production led by musician, arranger, and musical director Mario Reyes, who visited #elalmanacional to share the details of this important project. Originally presented at the Teatro Cariola and performed by the group Aymara, “Obreros: Los Antiguos” was written by Nano Acevedo five decades ago as a poetic and musical work dedicated to the lives of Chilean workers in the early and mid-20th century. Today, the author himself presents it revised and expanded, incorporating new arrangements and a renewed sound that preserves its narrative power and profound social meaning. Under the direction of Mario Reyes, the work integrates rhythms, melodies, harmonies, and instruments characteristic of Chilean tradition, along with poetic forms typical of folk song, reinforcing the heritage value of a creation that engages with the country's social history and with expressions born from the nitrate mines, tenement houses, and the first workers' organizations. Reyes also explained the process of musical reconstruction of this work, a project developed with Nano Acevedo to respect the original spirit of the composition while simultaneously giving it a new sound capable of connecting with contemporary audiences. The album seeks to become an artistic testament to a fundamental period in Chilean history, promoting reflection on the world of work and contributing to the preservation of cultural memory through a work that combines poetry, music, and identity.
