[Myoko-Otari Forest Road Line/Suginosawa Forest Road Line] The Myoko-Otari Line is renowned for being the "latest winter closure reopening in Japan." This forest road connects Otari Village in Nagano Prefecture and Myoko City in Niigata Prefecture. I went there on Marine Day, July 20th, but the winter closure on the Myoko side hadn't been lifted yet. "That's ridiculous!!" You'd think, but two days later, the Myoko side also lifted its closure. So I decided to take advantage of the Obon holiday to revisit. I also took advantage of the Obon holiday last year, so the timing was perfect. This video is from my second visit. I'm being quite persistent, even to myself (lol). It covers the entire route from the starting point on the Otari side, and then connects with the Suginosawa Line along the way to the Sasaga Mine campground. This time, it was the height of summer, so the entire area was covered in greenery. However, this forest road's true beauty can be experienced with the autumn foliage. With the autumn foliage season just around the corner, I highly recommend visiting it at least once.
