Mera Piya Ghar Aaya | Live in Berlin 2025 | Fanna-Fi-Allah Sufi Qawwali
“Raise the bells of joy – my Beloved has come home. When the Beloved arrives, God is revealed. Look again and again with longing eyes, even a single breath is precious now.” Mera Piya Ghar Aaya is a deeply mystical Punjabi Qawwali attributed to Hazrat Baba Bulleh Shah, one of the great poet saints of the Punjabi Sufi tradition. In this kalam, the return of the Beloved is not worldly reunion, but the moment of divine wasal, complete union with the Truth. The “piya” is the eternal Friend, Allah, whose presence dissolves separation, ritual obligation, and ego itself. The imagery is ecstatic and paradoxical. Bells ring, unseen instruments resound, prayer forms fall away, and the seeker becomes drunk on remembrance. When Bulleh Shah writes of forgetting formal prayer, it is not neglect, but the state of one whose entire being has become prayer. Love has reached fulfilment, and longing is transformed into grace. This Qawwali was made globally famous by Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, whose mastery brought Bulleh Shah’s poetry into powerful contemporary resonance while preserving its devotional core. This live performance was recorded earlier this year at Heimathafen Neukölln, Berlin, during Fanna-Fi-Allah Sufi Qawwali’s 25th Anniversary European tour. For over 25 years, Fanna-Fi-Allah has carried the traditional, classical Qawwali style learned directly from master qawwals of Pakistan. The ensemble remains devoted to the original doāba Qawwali andāz, without fusion instruments, pop arrangements, or stylistic shortcuts. Our work is grounded in lived practice, extended riyaz, and direct connection to shrines, teachers, and lineages that have preserved this music for generations. We are honored to return to Germany again next year and look forward to being back in Berlin on May 27th, 2026 at Festsaal Kreuzberg. Early Bird limited tickets are already close to selling out. ⸻ Upcoming UK & Europe Tour 2026 May 15 Sentralen Marmorsalen Oslo May 17 Eric Ericsonhallen Stockholm May 21 Film Studio Gothenburg May 23 Kulturkirche Altona Hamburg May 25 Jahrhunderthalle Frankfurt May 27 Festsaal Kreuzberg Berlin May 29 Théâtre de la Tour Eiffel Paris May 31 Luton UK June 4 Cambridge Junction J1 Cambridge June 5 Dewsbury Town Hall Dewsbury June 6 RNCM Manchester June 7 Y Theatre Leicester June 9 Warwick Arts Coventry June 10 St George’s Bristol June 11 Albert Hall Nottingham June 13 Birmingham Town Hall Birmingham June 14 Union Chapel London June 16 Stadsherstel Amsterdam June 17 Maassilo Rotterdam June 18 Gloria Theatre Cologne June 19 Jahrhunderthalle Frankfurt Tickets and information https://fanna-fi-allah.com/tour
