Horse logging: only the very best horses can perform this job

The Trappist Fathers of Westmalle (Belgium) not only have a well- known brewery, but also a large forest around the abbey. Draft horses are used for the ecological management of this forest. After the selective cutting of trees, the trunks are randomly scattered throughout the forest. Using horses, they are collected along a road, where they can be picked up for transport to the sawmill.
