1963 VW Beetle Revival: Family Heirloom Returns After 16 Years! (Ep. 1)

The newest project on the channel is a special one—a 1963 Volkswagen Beetle that has been in my wife’s family since it was brand new! This original California black-plate car has been off the road since 2005, and it’s time to see what it takes to get it back on the street. In this first episode, we perform a full assessment of the car’s condition. We air up the tires to get it off the flat spots, clear out decades of "trunk treasure" (including original voltage regulators and vintage matches), and pull the original, leaking battery. Most importantly, we confirm the air-cooled motor isn't seized and start the grody process of siphoning out the old, rusty-brown fuel. Video Highlights: • [00:15] Black Plate Special: A look at the original California plates and the 80s blue respray. • [02:40] Interior Tour: Checking out the tweed seats, original steering wheel, and headliner. • [04:00] Tires & Air: Bringing the 2005-era tires back to life to move the car. • [06:15] Trunk Treasure: Sorting through old spare parts, voltage regulators, and a vintage radio. • [13:00] Engine Check: Confirming the motor still turns and hasn't seized over the last 16 years. • [14:15] Battery Removal: Dealing with a leaking battery and assessing the corrosion in the tray. • [16:15] Fuel Siphon: Sampling the "rusty" fuel and deciding on the next steps for the tank.
