JR Central has announced the operation of a special Tokaido Shinkansen train that departs at night and arrives the following morning. The special train, the "Tokaido Lumiere Express," will depart Tokyo Station at 10:00 PM and arrive at Kyoto Station at 6:44 AM the following morning, and Shin-Osaka Station at 6:59 AM. It will stop at Gifu-Hashima Station from midnight to approximately 6:00 AM. Boarding stations are Tokyo, Shinagawa, and Shin-Yokohama, and alighting stations are Kyoto and Shin-Osaka; boarding and alighting are not permitted at any other stations. The departure date is August 8th only. JR Central states that this special train is being operated to meet various needs during the summer travel season. Tickets will go on sale from the 3rd of next month.
