Photo Journalism Although it is also a part of journalism you need to have a special skill of photography to become a photo-journalist. If you have that knack of reaching the right place at the right time and capture the moments in your camera then you can very much become a successful photo-journalist. Keeping in mind the quotation that a photo is worth 1000 words no media house can perform without photo-journalists. In news channels, the reporters are always accompanied by photographers. Video Editor Just like a newspaper editor, the job of the Video Editor is to make videos seamless and watchable. The entertainment industry has its biggest demand. All the movies, series and programs are never been shot at a single stretch. They are shot in small parts. Then the video editor works to join these fragments and insert the background track if required. This is very tedious work. You may need to cut and re-paste several clips to get that perfect shot. Not to mention the correct choice of music, dialogues, and lighting. Even after dubbing, you need to ensure that the dialogues go in the perfect lip-sync. The salary in this field starts from 15k/month and can reach up to 50k/month. This depends majorly on your expertise and the organization you are working for. 3. Advertising It is another ever-growing field in which students of Mass communication can make their careers. Over time advertising has become an inseparable part of marketing which itself is a must for any business organization. Be it a production unit, a trading firm or even a service providing unit. Even Filmmakers or advertisers themselves depend upon advertising their products and services to get more customers and audiences. 4. Radio Jockey Radio Jockeys know what to take and how to carry on the communication. If you have the right voice pitch and tone then this is the job for you. In the last few years, it has emerged as one of the most sought-after careers. Fame and instant recognition are unparalleled. Usually, the radio stations hire candidates with a bachelor’s degree in mass communication for this post. Your salary can start at 30k/month. In addition to that, you will have a distinct identity. Your voice will reach millions of listeners. 5. Video Jockey The job profile of video jockey is similar to that of the radio jockey. The only difference is that you have to interact with people on camera. So, your body language and expressions play an important part. Most of the music channels like MTV and Channel V have programs where you can call and talk with their Video Jockeys Just observe how they answer each call and keep the audience entertained. Even if you are not the caller, you will be interested in their conversation. 6. Sound Engineer A sound engineer is behind the desk in these cases. They maintain the amplitude, bass, speakers and complex PA systems. But their job is not limited to handling the gadgets. As a sound engineer, you can even go into R&D to work towards creating better appliances. 7. TV and Film Industry There are various job profiles and you can choose one according to your interests and expertise. In the entertainment industry, you can become a story writer, Screenplay writer or dialogue writer. If you have a flair for writing captivating pieces, you can go for any of these writing assignments. A writer’s job is to create quality content in tight deadlines. 8. Public Relations Officer A PR officer’s job is all about handling the client’s reputation. You should be fluent in the usage of all social media tools, should know how to handle the press meets and then plan strategies for getting a good reputation. In the entertainment industry, this role is the most important one. You can get good roles and projects only when your Public Relations Officer manages to portray you as a talented artist.
