Richard Mdluli and Mthembeni Mthunzi sentencing: 29 September 2020

The High Court in Johannesburg is expected to sentence former Crime Intelligence Head Richard Mdluli and his accomplice Mthembeni Mthunzi today. The case relates to the 1999 murder of Oupa Ramogibe, who allegedly had a relationship with Mdluli's customary wife - Tshidi Buthelezi. In July last year, Mdluli and Mthunzi were found guilty of kidnapping and assault as well as four counts of intimidation. However, the intimidation convictions were dropped following a Constitutional Court ruling that sections of the Intimidation Act ar unconstitutional. SABC News reporter Chriselda Lewis is at court.
