In this episode of our bathroom renovation on a vaulted ceiling above a vaulted cellar, we're tackling one of the most important steps: the floor construction with lightweight screed. We're working with the Ardex Stronglite system and demonstrating the entire process as it actually happens on the construction site. First, we install the edge insulation strips and prepare the surface. Next, the bonded lightweight screed is applied, evenly distributed, and compacted. Especially on a vaulted ceiling, it's crucial that the structure is stable, lightweight, and uniform. After the screed, the reinforcing mesh is laid across the entire surface to ensure the floor structure's long-term load-bearing capacity. Then we turn our attention to the electric underfloor heating, and this is precisely where the importance of meticulous workmanship becomes apparent. The previously installed underfloor heating system was damaged due to an error. Together with Ronny, we examine the problem, explain why the heating system cannot be operated in this condition, and professionally reconnect the system. We also demonstrate what must be considered regarding measurements, resistance values, and installation. Finally, the leveling compound of the Ardex system is applied and spread.
