What are the secrets of a 140 year old railroad depot building in Hawthorne, Nevada – south of Reno?
Let’s take a tour of a building constructed in 1881 about two hours south of Reno, Nevada! This was the first building constructed in Hawthorne and it started life as a freight train depot for the Carson and Colorado railroad. In later years the building was repurposed into several different uses, and we can still see physical reminders of some of these today. We'll then finish up with a beer at Revision Brewing Company in Sparks, Nevada. Thanks to the Hawthorne Elks Lodge and Jim Utterback – USMC retired. Please visit our merch shop! Growing this channel should get me the credibility to get access to even better content for you! Title theme written and performed by Steve. Drums by Scott Taylor. Other music courtesy of the YouTube Creator library. This is the place to learn interesting things about Reno, the state of Nevada and the American west! I've lived in Reno for 38 years (as an adult!). I've had a lifelong interest in history and spend much time exploring and researching this wonderful area. I started this channel to share some of what I've learned. I produced a full-length documentary film on the history of Reno's Harolds Club casino in 2015. Perhaps you're thinking of moving to Reno and looking for background on the area, or you're already a resident and this content might help give you a sense of place. I shall endeavor to cater to both groups! I'm also a craft beer enthusiast, and thought I'd talk about some of that scene here as well. I started homebrewing in 1992 and earned the Certified Cicerone designation in 2015 - this is a sommelier-like program for beer people. Please subscribe, share and come along with me on this journey! Thanks and cheers! Steve #history #railroad #Nevada
