The characteristics of high quality geography fieldwork

Fieldwork is a meaningful activity for geography students – it helps solidify subject knowledge, theory and understanding and helps students to collect, apply, analyse and evaluate geographical data and knowledge. High quality fieldwork does not have a single identity, except in its connection to the real world. There are variety of types of fieldwork - enquiry-led; observational; immersive; discovery-led; issue-led – and this self-led teacher CPD will explore what each of these looks like at a range of Key Stages and show how you can empower students to take ownership of their own learning through fieldwork.
