Marine VHF Radio Overview & Exercises with US Coast Guard - Weekly Kayaking Tips - Kayak Hipster

A VHF radio is a great way to communicate out on the water. But it requires specific protocol. Especially when calling for help and contacting the Coast Guard. Also, things might be different with your local area, so please research further and let me know if I did missed anything, or if things are done differently in your location. Bryan Hansel's excellent article I mentioned above, with plenty of easy to understand explanations: http://www.paddlinglight.com/articles... The video clips I showed was of an Incident Management Class led by Scott Brown, Nigel Dennis and Eila Wilkinson with the incredible help of the US Coast Guard. Superb class, you can see the full video here:    • A Week in Charleston w/ Sea Kayak Carolina...   Thank you to Andy Norman and Jonas Alexanderson for the corrections! ************ #kayak #seakayak #kayaktips Join this channel to get access to Office Hours, Archives and more:    / @kayakhipster   My photography book https://kayakhipster.com/book/ For gear I like to recommend for kayaking, camping and photo/video, I put it all together on an Amazon shop page: https://www.amazon.com/shop/kayakhipster Let's be social: Site - http://www.kayakhipster.com IG -   / kayakhipster   FB -   / thekayakhipster
