Cowboy Camping in a Mountain Storm (No Tent) - PCT Day 117
Day 117 (Sep 6) of thru-hiking the Pacific Crest Trail northbound in 2025. An eventful night on the PCT turns serious as I cowboy camp on an exposed mountain ridge with no tent while a storm rolls in. Lightning, rain, and extreme wind force me off the mountain in the middle of the night. By mid-day, the weather finally breaks as I reach White Pass, but the challenges aren’t over. A fire closure has shut down the trail, forcing most hikers to skip ahead. Determined to keep my continuous footpath intact from Mexico to Canada, I choose the long road walk around the closure instead.
