Let's explore the depths of it in the video. If you enjoy deep dives into Harry Potter or Game of Thrones, check out our sister channels Half Blood Theorist and Three Eyed Theorist — links in the description. As his Republic gunship touches down on the landing pad, Master Ki-Adi-Mundi steps out and surveys the temple. Although it does not physically look any different from when he left a few months back, having been spared from the destruction of the recent battle, the atmosphere feels completely different. Even with the droids defeated, tension remains high as the Jedi prepare for the final and most complicated phase of the conflict, finding the Sith Lord. It is for that reason that the Jedi Council ordered Master Mundi back to Coruscant. He does not bother to head to the chambers, but instead approaches the Jedi Council’s newest member in the courtyard. Anakin Skywalker stands there alone, his lightsaber in hand as he goes through his combat maneuvers. Although one of their finest warriors, there is now a subtle tension in the young man’s movements. Aggression tinges each strike, and his parries come a bit too slow as the boy seems to second-guess himself. Ki-Adi-Mundi: Pardon for interrupting you, young Skywalker, but I was wondering if I could have a moment of your time? Anakin (Weary): Master Mundi, back so soon. Ki-Adi-Mundi: Yes, our mission requires us to act with the utmost speed, Skywalker. Anakin: I have no doubt. So you’re really doing this. You're going to act as my babysitter. Ki-Adi-Mundi: Do not take it personally, young one. The Council simply believes that someone with more experience should help you. This is not a question of your abilities. Anakin: No, it's a question of my loyalty. They don’t think I can be trusted to handle this task alone. After everything I’ve done for them, they still don’t trust me. Ki-Adi-Mundi (Stern): Anakin, you were given a seat on the council, but do not forget that this was only because Chancellor Palpatine insisted on it. The same man who we are currently investigating. And let us also not forget that the reason we must conduct this investigation is that you executed Count Dooku, our main lead. So yes, our trust is in short supply at the moment. Anakin blinks, stunned at the bluntness of his delivery. He finds no malice in the Cerean's words. Only pure conviction as if he means every word of it. He finds that he hates that even more and looks at the older Jedi before reluctantly bowing his head and tersely asking for apologies. Master Mundi accepts it and requests a full report, demanding every detail of Palpatine’s interactions with him since the incident on the Invisible Hand. Although Anakin already gave this briefing in the Jedi Temple, Master Mundi insists he get it again. So the Jedi Knight repeats everything, including how Palpatine was the one who ordered Anakin to execute Dooku and how he requested that Anakin serve as his representative in the Jedi Council. It is all quite suspicious, but not damning enough to be certain. So Ki-Adi-Mundi makes the unexpected decision to meet with Palpatine. The Jedi requests this audience, ostensibly to discuss the rebuilding of Coruscant after the recent battle. Palpatine is equally surprised, but sets a time for them the next day. Ki-Adi-Mundi enters the chancellor’s chambers, offering a respectful bow before pulling a seat for himself. The chancellor returns this gesture and offers him some tea. As they get comfortable, Master Mundi stares at Palpatine, all while he reaches into the Force and tries to sense Palpatine’s presence. He doubts he is the first Jedi to try this, and when he feels the Force around him, everything seems normal, placid even. Too normal. #starwars #starwarswhatif #whatif
