PGH Day in the Life: OPEN HEART surgery 🫀

WATCH PART 1:    • What's it like as a PGH Surgery intern? 🫀🗡...   (Part 2/2) Day in the life as a Philippine General Hospital intern rotating in Surgery. I had the chance to observe different operations, including an open heart surgery in the Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery operating room, “Blalock-Thomas-Taussig Shunt takedown, Bioprosthetic pulmonic valve implantation…” Meet my blockmates from different med schools (UPCM, UERM, San Beda, OLFU, MCU, La Salle) as we go on a 12-hour PM ward shift from 7pm-7am the following day. We monitor our patients’ vital signs, and do procedures assigned to us by our residents (blood extraction, ABG, nasogastric tube insertion, Foley catheter insertion, IV cannula insertion. When at the Emergency Room, we get to do basic suturing on trauma patients).
