Video Center/Yang Xuan Reports During a general interpellation session at the Taipei City Council on the afternoon of June 9th, Social Democratic Party Taipei City Councilor Miao Bo-ya pointed out that an open smoking area in Da'an District was located next to a kindergarten's parent pick-up area. The smoking area was only removed after she inspected it herself. Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an stated that the smoking area was approximately 200 meters from the kindergarten. Miao Bo-ya immediately refuted this, stating, "You've been misled! The Health Bureau's report to you was incorrect." Miao Bo-ya criticized the city government for failing to establish clear details and regulations regarding the setting up of smoking areas in order to promote a smoke-free city policy and related KPIs. This resulted in different units choosing locations independently with varying standards, and even situations where smoking areas were located right next to kindergarten pick-up areas.
