Create Your Own DAX - DAX User Defined Functions

Create your own DAX functions in Power BI with DAX User-Defined Functions, or DAX UDFs. In this video, Greg Trzeciak walks through how to enable the DAX UDF preview feature, where to write your functions, and how reusable DAX expressions can help keep your reports cleaner, more organized, and easier to maintain. You’ll learn why DAX UDFs are useful for repeated calculation logic, how they differ from simply copying and pasting formulas, and how they can be used across measures, columns, tables, and reports. Greg shows how to turn on the preview feature, work inside DAX Query View, use DEFINE FUNCTION, test results with EVALUATE, update the model with your custom function, and then call that function from a normal measure. You’ll also see how to add descriptions and metadata to your custom DAX functions so they appear more clearly in the DAX experience. If you want to write cleaner DAX, reuse logic, and start building your own function library in Power BI, this is a feature you need to know. 👉 On-Demand Learning - Start With The FREE Community Plan: https://prag.works/odl-trial-yt 🔗Pragmatic Works On-Demand Learning Packages: https://pragmaticworks.com/pricing/ 🔗Pragmatic Works Boot Camps: https://pragmaticworks.com/boot-camps/ 🔗Pragmatic Works Hackathons: https://pragmaticworks.com/private-tr... 🔗Pragmatic Works Virtual Mentoring: https://pragmaticworks.com/virtual-me... 🔗Pragmatic Works Enterprise Private Training: https://pragmaticworks.com/private-tr... 🔗Pragmatic Works Blog: http://blog.pragmaticworks.com/ 0:00 Intro 0:23 What Are DAX UDFs 1:18 Why UDFs Win 3:40 Enable The Feature 4:39 Test With EVALUATE 5:56 Define The Function 7:30 Use It Anywhere 8:13 Document It Let's connect: ✔️Discord: https://prag.works/yt-discord ✔️Facebook: https://prag.works/yt-fb ✔️Instagram: https://prag.works/yt-insta ✔️LinkedIn: https://prag.works/yt-li Pragmatic Works 350 Governor St, Suite 300, Green Cove Springs, FL 32043 Phone: (904) 638-5743 Email: [email protected] #PragmaticWorks
