It is located at 25º46'11" south latitude and 49º42'57" west longitude, at an altitude of 908 meters. It is located in the Metropolitan Mesoregion of Curitiba, more precisely in the microregion of the same name, being 62 km from the state capital, Curitiba. It has an area of 2093.859 km².[5] Its population, according to the 2010 IBGE demographic census, was 44,932 inhabitants, and according to 2019 estimates, it was 47,909[6] inhabitants. The natural inhabitants of the municipality of Lapa are called Lapeanos. The exploitation of yerba mate and the tropeiro activity were part of the economic activities of its history. Currently, despite being a more diversified municipality in its economic base, it brings with it, due to its historical past, tourism, which shows the beauty existing in its Historical and Cultural Heritage. Its first name was the parish of Santo Antônio da Lapa, under the jurisdiction of the town of Curitiba in 1797. In 1806, due to the rapid growth of the settlement, it became Vila Nova do Príncipe. After some changes in jurisdiction, finally, on March 7, 1872, Vila Nova do Príncipe, separated from Vila Rio Negro, was elevated to the category of city with the name Lapa. It is rich in historical, cultural, and religious tourism, such as the famous Gruta do Monge (Monk's Grotto), and is the largest producer of stone fruit in the state. Its commerce struggles due to its incipient industry, lacking new investments to generate employment and income. Lapa is a peaceful city. It has good infrastructure for basic sanitation, schools (including higher education), transportation, health, and leisure. The municipality is historically known for the famous Siege of Lapa, which took place in its vicinity. In 1894, there was a bloody confrontation involving the "Pica-paus" and "Maragatos," opposed to the dependence of Rio Grande do Sul as a federative unit within Brazil. In this historical event, General Gomes Carneiro fell in combat. 🤜🤜🤜🤜🤜Check out our partner channels🤛🤛🤛🤛🤛 Cristina Crochet:    / @cristinacrochê   Curious World:    / @omundo_curioso   (Channel Narrator) Vanspilla:    / vanspilla   SKY DRONE FPV:    / @skydronefpv   Junior Drones:    / @juniordronesbr   #bronisdrones #bronisaerialimages #pinhais
