Former Prime Minister Kakuei Tanaka, known as a "master orator," captivated audiences with his distinctive husky voice and humorous speaking style. We have revived Tanaka's style from precious footage preserved at BSN Niigata Broadcasting. This time, we look back at a speech given by Kakuei Tanaka on March 20, 1983, in support of Prefectural Assemblyman Seiji Kikuta. In it, we can glimpse Tanaka's own thoughts on the "mission of a politician," such as, "A politician must take one step at a time to forge a path forward in the midst of serious realities," and "One must fulfill the responsibilities that must be fulfilled until the day one dies."
