Juniper "Eskimo" (Damien rice / Bell X1) early recording

Rare Juniper recording ...This is essentially a damien rice solo song, but recorded with juniper in their final days together......one of the last songs damien rice wrote for Juniper before he left the band..this would be essentially the song that broke up the band...This was recorded at Windmill Lane studios.....after signing a 6 record deal with polygram records....the studio wanted the band to write 'more commercial and faster' songs...Damien had written "Eskimo" after experiencing a period of sadness and frustration but the record company would not allow him to release it. This prompted Rice to quit the band...Rice had claimed in an interview with Yahoo that he had hoped to release fan-favourite "Eskimo" as the second single but that he had been effectively over-ruled by the label......The Sunday Tribune's Matthew Magee called it "the song that would split Juniper up, that would be their artistic pinnacle, the song that would never be released by any Juniper member in its finest, glossiest, grandest incarnation, recorded at Windmill Lane... .nonetheless, after leaving the band and moving to tuscany for a year, Damien would come back and record the solo album "O"...eskimo would be the final track...eskimo is a favorite of Damien ....this I know as he said this in concert at the beacon theatre in dec 2006....enjoy
