御蔭神社：賀茂御祖神社（下鴨神社）奥宮（Mikage Jinja Shrine：Inner shrine of Kamomioya Jinja）

太古に鴨大神が降臨した秘境聖地。御祭神は玉依媛命と八咫烏である賀茂建角命の荒御魂。ここで荒御魂とは、生まれたばかりの御神霊のことをいう。 賀茂神社の御祭神がこの地に降臨したとされる「神聖な起源の地」として、毎年、京都三大祭の一つである賀茂祭（葵祭）に先立ち、下鴨神社から神職や行列がこの地を訪れ、神霊を本社にお迎えする御蔭祭（みかげまつり）が執り行われる。 This is a secluded, sacred site where the great deity Kamo-no-Okami is said to have descended in ancient times. The enshrined deities are Tamayori-hime-no-Mikoto and the aramitama (rough spirit) of Kamo-taketsunumi-no-Mikoto, also known as Yatagarasu. In this context, aramitama refers to a newly born divine spirit. As the "sacred place of origin" where the deities of Kamo Shrine are believed to have descended, this site hosts the Mikage Matsuri every year prior to the Kamo Festival (Aoi Matsuri)—one of Kyoto's three major festivals. During this event, Shinto priests and a ceremonial procession travel from Shimogamo Shrine to this location to welcome the divine spirits and escort them back to the main shrine.
