Prof. John Hayes discusses the enduring friendship of Ludwig Wittgenstein and Dr. Maurice O'Connor Drury, and their paired legacies in the classical dialogue between philosophy and medicine. Professor Hayes is editor of "The Selected Writings of Maurice O'Connor Drury on Wittgenstein, Philosophy, Religion & Psychiatry" (London: Bloomsbury, 2017). He earned his Ph.D. at Duke University, N.C., and is Dean Emeritus, Faculty of Arts, at Mary Immaculate College, University of Limerick, Ireland.
