For the past few years my friend Rory Dowling of Taran Guitars (Scotland) has been working with legendary guitarist Martin Simpson, a collaboration that has lead to a dramatic evolution in the way that Rory approaches his instruments. I have been lucky enough to have played his guitars made in the past year and it is striking just how responsive and expressive they are. Rory was the first luthier I interviewed for luthier Stories a year ago today! Over the year sine we first met he has become a close friend and I am really impressed with the instruments now leaving his workshop. They are very good indeed!
