PS3 controller not charging? try this

I was having problems charging my brand new PS3 controller so after trying almost every trick in the book i found out that it could be the USB cable it wasn't listed anywhere, and i didn't find anything suggesting it online. So i thought perhaps a lot of people could have this problem and with no solution, they just might think something is broken So hopefully this can help solve your ps3 controller charging problem if you've tried everything else
