Singapore’s car prices have entered into ridiculous territory. I mean, COEs are hovering $130k COE, and there are all the signs that prices will continue to rise, and we’ll soon be exceeding the all-time high of $150k. The price of a mass market car like a Toyota Corolla is $203k. Even the cheapest EV, even with $30k government rebates, is over $150k today! So what really happened to cause this nearly doubling of car prices from just 7 to 8 years ago? Is it the government's policies? Is it because of the PHV companies? How about the over-aggressive dealers who bidded for COEs by all means? Or could it be a simple case of Singaporeans being just too rich?
