Vikas Divyakirti’s misunderstanding of the metaphor “dog licking the oblation” in Mahābhārata | Hin
In the Mahabharata, such a figurative sentence as “a dog licked the havi/purodash/somaras” has been used many times for the touching/kidnapping/rape of another woman by an evil spirit. A female character (Dhatreyika) also has such a statement. It is a big mistake of Vikas Divya Kirti to consider/declare the poet's words to Shri Ram as a very bad word without understanding the meaning of this ancient figurative speech of Sanskrit language. The Mahābhārata has many examples of the metaphoric usage “a dog licked the oblation” to refer to the touching/abducting/ravishing of another's wife by an evil person. Even a woman character, Dhātreyika, has used this metaphor. To consider or propagate this a very bad thing attributed to Rāma by a poet without understanding the essence of this ancient metaphor in Sanskrit is a big blunder by Vikas Divyakirti.
