The Executive Secretary of the Public Security Secretariat of the Federal District, Regilene Siqueira, reinforced the importance of reporting cases of gender-based violence and highlighted that the State has expanded actions to support and protect women victims of aggression. During an interview, she commented on a recent case of violence with a history of recidivism and stated that situations like these require a quick response from the authorities to prevent escalation to femicide. Regilene also addressed the discussion about revictimization in the justice system when commenting on a hearing in which a victim of attempted femicide reported feeling humiliated during her testimony in the Federal District. According to her, this type of situation compromises trust in institutions and reinforces the need for professional training to ensure humane treatment. "The victim cannot be revictimized," she emphasized. The secretary also stated that the Federal District has invested in support infrastructure, such as specialized rooms and service protocols, as well as awareness campaigns and guidance for the press to avoid romanticizing crimes of violence against women.
