Trains at York - Bank Holiday Service Disruption | 25/08/19

This video is property of Train_PlaneHub 2160p 4K HD! Sunday 25th August 2019, bank holiday weekend. Can only mean one thing for the railway and that's engineering work! With work taking place at King's Cross station resulting in its closure for the entirety of this weekend. LNER services' southern most terminus was now Peterborough instead of London. Also Cross Country were operating a limited service due to staff walk outs on Sunday's meaning they were only doing their contractual hours instead of voluntary Sunday work meaning very few XC Services. So from the North East services south were slacking. So to the rescue came a top n tail West Coast Railways 47 set! This was operating additional services for all ticket holders between York & Sheffield all day. The set would continue from Sheffield to Chesterfield where it would change directions and come back towards Sheffield to pick up again and head to York. The idea behind it was so people from the ECML, could connect to Sheffield to pick up East Midlands services to London St Pancras. As well as take the strain of the few Cross Country services that were running that day. So all in all quite an interesting day and not a bad hour of filming at York either. Look out for the new Transpennine mk5 & 68 set! These have also recently entered service on the Liverpool to Scarborough route. INCLUDES: Transpennine Express Class 68 & 185's, West Coast Railway Class 47's, Cross Country HST & Voyagers, LNER HST & 91's, Northern 170's & 158's and a glimpse of a GBRF 60 avoiding York station round the curve. Also worth mentioning was this was filmed on one of the hottest bank holiday weekends on record. Temperature this day in York reached 32 degrees! The last LNER HST featured lead by 43257 was an empty coaching stock movement from Craigentinny to Neville Hill. The set had been used the previous day to operate Cross Country services to Devon to help with the higher demand over the bank holiday weekend. I joined that 47 set to Sheffield. So the last shot in the video was taken at Sheffield of it leaving empty towards Chesterfield. Thanks for watching this video from York!
