Finding the signal: understanding Bitcoin and deflation

Jeff Booth is an Entrepreneur, Technology Leader, Author, and Strategic Advisor. In 2015, Booth was awarded “Person of the Year” by BCTIA Technology Impact Awards. Moreover, in 2016 Goldman Sachs named him among its most intriguing entrepreneurs. Currently, he is a partner of the fund called “Ego Death Capital”. In this conversation with Booth, it will be explored the tesis of his book titled “The Price of Tomorrow: Why deflation is the Key to an Abundant Future”. The author argues that technology is moving at a very fast rate and its deflationary nature hasn’t permeated through every level of society because we live in a debt based economic system that only works if credit expands. With these two opposing forces struggling, we need to build a new framework that allows the benefits of technology and the abundance it creates to manifest. “Bitcoin from a first principles perspective, I believe it is the only solution for a foundation of a new economic and financial system that is equitable, inclusive and stable”, says Booth. In addition, in his article “Finding Signal in a Noisy World” Booth states that “the innovations that are hardest of all to understand, are open decentralized protocol level technologies” such as Bitcoin. In this conversation, these ideas will be discussed along with his famous quote “abundance in money creates scarcity everywhere, scarcity in money creates abundance”.
