NPEC 2026 05 Redefining Nursing Identity

This month’s Café will feature an engaging presentation and discussion centered on the paper “The Nurse Policy Entrepreneur Café: Redefining Nursing Identity,” published in January 2026. Michael, Grace, and Ongelique will guide participants through the paper’s key themes, examining the history of nursing policy entrepreneurship, barriers to nurse engagement in policy spaces, and the growing role of nurses as advocates, innovators, and full partners in healthcare reform. The session will also explore how the Nurse Policy Entrepreneur Café was developed and the ideas that helped shape its collaborative, dialogue-driven approach. Throughout the conversation, participants will reflect on themes of health equity, systems thinking, professional identity, and the many ways nurses can influence meaningful change both within and beyond traditional healthcare settings.
