The Nakada Rice Terraces, spread across the hilly terrain of the Ogawa area in Kimino Town, Wakayama Prefecture, boast a history of over 600 years. However, due to the aging population, the number of rice farmers has drastically decreased, and the terraces have become overgrown with weeds, creating a dilapidated landscape. Alarmed by this situation, local residents, seven years ago, launched the "Ogawa Area Rice Terraces Promotion Council" and the "Nakata Rice Terraces Revitalization Project." This program follows and documents a year in the life of local residents and volunteers, documenting their efforts from restoring the dilapidated rice terraces to cultivating rice in the already revived fields.
