Captain Jack's Trail #677 Is Now Open - July 2017

Special thanks to CMTRA, the Pike's Peak Ranger District, Slavens Racing and all those who worked on the trail and in conjunction with each other in reopening this historic and vital trail to the Pike's Peak trail system via Lower Gold Camp near Colorado Springs. Captain Jack's Trailhead 38°47'41.0"N 104°52'37.3"W This is an amazing trail leads to Jones Park. Dirt bike, hiking and cycling trail #667 is challenging on my 300xcw but much less so than my first up on it circa 1977 on a Honda MR 50 Elsinore. It was fun then and more fun today. It will be real tempting to fly up and down trail 667. Our up was moderate but the down (not shown) was in a classic Colorado severe thunderstorm and we felt ok that nobody would be heading out in those conditions. So we rallied through innumerable puddles between whoops and squirmed downstream through the rocks at quite the clip. Incredibly fun. All said and done, it is a multi-use trail.
