It is a historical compilation of 272 spiritual discourses delivered verbatim by Bhagwan Swaminarayan between 1819 and 1829. It was spoken in vernacular Gujarati using relatable analogies (like farming, family, and warfare) to teach deep spiritual truths. A Bhashya: As we discussed, a Bhashya is a formal, highly structured, scholarly commentary traditionally written in Sanskrit. It uses strict logic, grammar, and scriptural cross-references to defend a specific philosophical system. In 2007, a prominent BAPS scholar-monk, Mahamahopadhyaya Sadhu Bhadreshdas Swami, completed the Swaminarayan Bhashyam—a stunning five-volume Sanskrit commentary on the Prasthantrayi (the Upanishads, Bhagavad Gita, and Brahma Sutras).
