ROAD TRIP WITH A SCOOTER through INDONESIA – DAY 18 – A Gold Chain at MURUNDAO Waterfall & The Road from ENDE to MONI, on Flores Island This is one of a series of films presenting a road trip with a scooter through Indonesia, more precisely across several islands east of Bali. I packed a small bag with a few clothes, and every day I explored places I had never been before. I had a destination in mind, but I didn’t set a specific route or itinerary. I adapted along the way and was willing to make adjustments depending on mood, fatigue, or what I encountered on the road. This episode shows the second part of Day 18, continuing from the previous film (   • PLAJA cu PIETRE ALBASTRE & Drumul din BAJA...   ). After getting the oil changed on my scooter at a workshop in Ende, I set off toward Moni. I climbed up to about 1100 meters altitude and was lucky enough to ride just behind a rain shower that would have drenched me from head to toe. Moni is a small village, famous for being close to Mount Kelimutu (1639 m) and serving as the starting point for those who want to visit the three lakes located at its summit. When I arrived, the peak of Kelimutu was hidden in clouds, and at the recommendation of my guesthouse host, I left the visit to the crater for the next day. That afternoon, I visited Murundao Waterfall, which can be reached in 5 minutes via a small path descending from the main road through Moni. The water was brownish because it had rained recently. Somewhere near the waterfall, I found a chain that looked like gold. Later, when I had the chance to check at a jewelry shop, I was told it was not real gold. After eating at a small warung in Moni—one of the few I could find—I returned to my room to rest, so I’d be ready for the climb to the summit of Kelimutu, which I’ll show in the next film.
