Now we're finding out why this motorhome was so cheap!

In Part 2 of our budget motorhome journey, we’re getting stuck into the repairs, checks and hidden costs that come with running an older motorhome. Our £5,999 Compass is back at the unit, but before we can take Mum on her first trip, there’s a list of jobs to sort — from electrics and minor fixes to proper gas safety and mechanical checks. Older vans can be great value, but they do need care, patience and the right people working on them. We’ve tackled what we safely can ourselves, and left the serious bits to the professionals! We’re now waiting on the garage to finish the track rod ends and driveshaft, which will hopefully solve that knocking noise. In Part 3, we’re planning its very first camp-out… assuming everything behaves!
