Ruteng: Where to visit in Flores, Indonesia

RUTENG, FLORES, INDONESIA 🇮🇩 Such a surreal place, just under 4 hours from Labuan Bajo yet polar opposite. We instantly felt the cold, and took comfort in it. We noticed the religion shift from Muslim to Catholic with beautifully dramatic churches. We witnessed children so happy to see us, at points running after our moped to shout "hello miss, hello mister". We met people so eager to engage with us, stopping to ask us for photos and practice their English. We ate in the same local warung 2 nights in a row because the food was just so good. We found rice fields shaped like spider webs, caves that held so much history and viewpoints like this one that made us stop and appreciate where we were and how far we had come.
