Yamaha R1 Clutch Inspection

Customer complained of a rattle/grinding noise when the bike is in neutral and the clutch is released. I inspected each item within the clutch and found the clutch to be operationally sound. The damper springs were rattling within their shell. This happens as they shrink over time. No negative impact to reliability or performance. Found burnt steel and friction plates along the way. Due to that and the bike seeing harsher forces and temperatures due to track riding, I will replace the friction, and steels plates as well as add stiffer springs to avoid future clutch slipping.
