Inside is a sum of money ranging from 1 cent to 500,000 euros (TF1). They may also contain an object. After a random draw (and a general knowledge question in one version), one of the contestants brings their box to the center of the set with the host. The value of the box is known only to the bailiff and the banker. The latter, unpleasant and mocking, regularly offers a sum of money throughout the game, which the contestant can accept or refuse. The offer varies depending on the boxes eliminated by the player during the game. Indeed, the larger the sums remaining, the more generous the banker will be. Frequently, the banker proposes a box swap, creating a tense atmosphere when, for example, only two boxes remain, one containing a large sum of money and the other a paltry sum. If the player takes too long to respond, the banker can cancel the offer. Unselected contestants return in subsequent episodes until their chosen winner is selected. The final prize, displayed in the player's box, is shared with a viewer, even if that winner is an object.
