"What Remains of the Legacy of Cyril and Methodius" – this is the title of a lecture by Dr. Jacek Kurek, who will remind us who these saints were and what they preached throughout their lives. These are 9th-century Byzantine missionaries, called the "Apostles of the Slavs," who created the oldest Slavic alphabet (Glagolitic) and translated the Holy Scriptures into Old Church Slavonic. Pope John Paul II declared them co-patrons of Europe. For them, dialogue between the peoples of that time was paramount, as conversation could sometimes resolve the most obvious issues.
