⭐ Adios Nonino
📆 61 years ago today Don Vicente Piazzolla, Astor’s father, whom he always called “Nonino”, passed away. Born in the city of Mar del Plata on November 12, 1883, he was a very particular man with a unique personality that influenced and ignited the life of his only son, for whom he always predicted a future of greatness. Nonino was playful and jovial, but at the same time strong and determined. A great Tango lover, fan of the accordion and admirer of Carlos Gardel. It was Nonino himself who made the decision to buy Astor a bandoneon for his eighth birthday instead of the skates his son wanted. The sudden disappearance of Don Vicente drove Astor to create one of his most beloved pieces: “Adios Nonino”, the only work that he conceived with the bandoneon. A few days after the death of his father, Astor sat down and composed the piece in the New York apartment where he was living at the time. Nonino’s support and determination were fundamental to Astor’s development as a person, both personally and professionally. 💬“He worked from seven in the morning until nine in the evening. He ate in a hurry, he changed and took me to study music two or three times per week. My father was passionate about me, and the most upright person I ever met,” Piazzolla said in an interview conducted in 1969 by journalist Alberto Speratti. As of 2012, the Municipality of General Pueyrredón (Province of Buenos Aires) established October 13 as Marplatense Musician Day in his honor. 🎥 Video: Fragment of a concert recorded at the Piazzolla Theater in Buenos Aires for the Center for the Art of Performance of the University of California, Los Angeles (CAP-UCLA) 🎼 #QuintetoAstorPiazzolla - Continuing the legacy of the maestro who revolutionized tango #AstorPiazzolla #AdiosNonino #Tango https://quintetoastorpiazzolla.com.ar
