How to work with Acrylic paint and charcoal : The evolution of a large work on canvas. This is the first time I have used the new studio space to film a big canvas and I really wanted to show all the stages that this work has been through, filmed in as close to real time as possible. Working over several days and allowing a break between stages, always returning with a fresh eye. Although the work has been improvised and the creative process is very instinctive there is always an element of planning and careful thought regarding the composition, colour choices, and abstract elements. The final outcome I feel is a good example of my usual style and similar to most of my other big artworks. I do get accused of being repetitive sometimes, but that is always going to be the case. I always seem to find a figure somewhere and I seem to be drawn to certain colour combinations. This work has been a very enjoyable experience for me and it has also helped me to explore other ideas that I could develop. I have been stuck in a creative block for a while but I hope by working on this large scale work I can once again find enjoyment in the artwork I produce.
