🌐VRDLK (Vor-Du-Lac) | Red Iron Road Animated Horror Anthology | Lakeside Animation VRDLK: (pronounced Vor-Du-Lac) centers around a traveling diplomat that is caught in a snowstorm and forced to take shelter with a poor Serbian family. When the family warns him of “beasts” that hunt in the night, he is quick to dismiss their fears as superstition and fairy tales - a mistake he may not have a chance to make twice. Based on acclaimed Russian writer, Aleksey Tolstoy's 1839 gothic novella, "The Family of The Vourdulak". VRDLK: FAMILY OF VURDULAK is the first installment of the animated horror anthology series RED IRON ROAD. Each of the episodes is a stand alone short film between 10-20 minutes long, based on the works of famous European authors, and produced with different creative partners in unique visual styles to suit each story. VRDLK kickstarted the festival launch of the series with a World Premiere at the Fantasia Film Festival in Montreal in 2022. The short was then selected to screen at 38 festivals in its circuit over the next two years, and went on to win top prizes as Best Short or Best Animation at 12 such significant mainstream and genre festivals including Nevermore Film Festival, FilmQuest, LUSCA Fantastic Film Festival, T.O.
